Animal Kingdom is usually my least favorite park out of the four Disney World parks, but this year we had a great time! It was thanks to the Wilderness Explorers program that the girls decided they wanted to do. The program has 31 different badges (stickers) that the kids can earn by visiting different stations all throughout the park. Each station stop has an educational aspect to it and an activity that the kids can do to earn their badge.
It took Sophie approximately 10 minutes to declare that she was going to earn all 31 badges this trip. I distinctly remember looking at Ken and telling *that so is not going to happen*. Hah. 2 days later she had earned all 31 badges and was beaming from ear to ear.
If you are heading to Animal Kingdom, this is a really fun way for your children to learn about animals and the environment while enjoying the park. The program is free and anyone, even adults can complete the quest. You can try to get every badge in one trip like we did, or keep the book and work on it a little every trip.
Bella wasn’t really into getting the badges like Sophie was, so we ended up splitting up during our days at Animal Kingdom. Sam and Bella spent a lot of time at DinoLand USA while Sophie went through the park following the map to earn her badges. We are already looking forward to our next trip to Animal Kingdom to go through the Wilderness Explorer program again!
