I love social media for many reasons, and my favorite platform (at the moment) is Instagram. I’ve connected with some amazing foster parents and adoptive parents and hope-to-adopt parents that bless my socks off daily. But today, instead of sharing with you more about our foster journey (which at the moment has me close to tears or cheering, depending on the day), I’d like to introduce you to Parker and his hope-to-be-forever parents:
We are Jesse and Kristin. We are coming into our fifth year as foster parents. We love kids and really have a heart for kids coming from hard situations.
We finalized the adoption of our six year old son this past May. He lived with us about three years as our foster son before we could finally close the case. While fostering our (now) son we have enjoyed providing temporary respite care and temporary pre-adoptive care to more than thirty other kiddos.
This is how we met baby Parker. We were asked to care for him for two weeks before he could be placed with his adoptive family. Then his case wasn’t going as planned and two weeks turned into two months. By then we were completely in love with Parker! When the original adoptive family decided it was time for them to move on, we jumped at the opportunity to ask if we could be considered. The agency was immediately supportive of moving forward with us as the potential adoptive parents.
In order for us to be officially signed on as the adoptive family we had to submit a payment of $10,000 for legal fess to continue the case. This seemed impossible in the short amount of time we had. But as we shared our story, we raised and surpassed our goal in just over TWO DAYS! Now we need help with rest of the adoption costs estimated around $22,500. There is still a legal case pending, but the agency lawyers feel completely confident that the case will go in our favor. Our task now is raise enough money to pay for a private adoption that we never planned for.
