Today I turn 40. I thought I would have a problem with it, since I had a horrible time with turning 36 – but I’m seriously good with it. I’m really looking forward to spending the day with my sweet family and enjoying a quiet day together.
Yesterday our little guy’s TPR case was being heard, and I was on pins and needles waiting to hear from our case worker. Imagine my surprise when she called me before the court case was heard to tell me that the birth mom actually came to court and she did an identified surrender to us.
This means that we can move right to the paperwork to file for adoption! I can’t quite get my head wrapped around that this little man will legally be ours before he turns two. No more case workers, or state doctors or DCP&P nurses in and out of our home. We can travel anywhere without asking permission. We can change his last name to GOOD legally. We can post pictures of him!!
I’m so thankful for the amazing friends who have stood by us, prayed for us and kept us going when we thought we were going nowhere on this journey. I’ll be sharing more about the adoption process as we move on, and the day that we can finally share his sweet photo be advised that I might be over sharing pictures just a tad.
So today we are celebrating that in just a few weeks we will be officially a family of FIVE.
