While at times I feel like we are living IN a zoo, I love to visit our local zoo with the kids. For my birthday I said that I wanted to take the kids to the zoo and thankfully we had a lovely sunny day that was a perfect zoo day!
Little man had a blast roaring at the animals and giggling with delight. The girls had fun running from pen to pen and showing him all their favorite animals. The local zoo also has a HUGE playground that they absolutely love to run around in.
All together it was a perfect birthday – fun in the sun and a stop at Sonic on the way home.
And then it was EASTER. Whew – it seems like the days flew by and I’ve lost track of time yet again. We usually don’t do Easter baskets, but this year we did them for the kids. The girls were really excited to see a basket of goodies from Mommy and Daddy – especially the cute teddy bears.
At church the girls helped to make resurrection buns, which if you’ve never made are super easy and make the resurrection tangible for children to understand.
The ingredients are super easy:
*1 package crescent rolls
*melted butter in a bowl
*combine equal amounts of sugar and cinnamon
Spread out a crescent roll (which is the tomb) and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar (to represent the spices). Take the marshmallow (to represent Jesus) and place it in the center and then wrap the roll around it and dip it in the butter. Bake for 8 minutes and when the kids take a bite the marshmallow is gone!
They are Sophie’s favorite craft to make. Bella – not so much, but she made them with a smile.
Then it was time for the Easter Egg Hunt at Church, which I can safely say was the highlight of the Sunday School hour!
Both girls found just a *few* eggs!
After church and a quick nap for our little guy it was time to head to my MIL’s house for Easter dinner! Since it was sunny and warmish we had another egg hunt outside for the kids and then we broke out the soccer balls, bouncy balls and baseball.
It was SO good just to be outside! Even little man had a great time on his first egg hunt!
And suddenly we are to the end of the week and I’m in Atlanta at the Teach Them Diligently convention! Whew – it’s been quite the whirlwind over here! What’s been going on with you?
