It’s Official….

I am now a boy mom.

I can honestly say that I didn’t think I wanted to be a boy mom.  When I was pregnant with Sophie and Bella I was so relieved when the ultrasound tech told us they were girls.

I have nothing against boys – I have 2 brothers whom I love dearly.   My cousin has 2 boys that I simply adore, and my best friend has 5 of them. {five!!}

I was perfectly content with all girls, until our CHS caseworker called and said she had a referral for a 7 day old baby boy.  Since his mom has been in the DCP&P system previously, his case has a very high chance of going to adoption sooner than the standard 15-24 months.

We had 24 hours to decide if we wanted a baby boy.

Don’t forget that we have Baby J, who just turned 9 months last Tuesday and we are also hoping to adopt, although her case may go to reunification.

After a lot of soul searching, praying, and discussion we accepted the referral.

Baby S was placed in our home on Aug 1st.

He has already captured our hearts – all 5 pounds of him.

I’ll be sharing more of his story, but for now – here is Baby J {9 months} being introduced to Baby S {1 week}.

Melt my heart – and send caffeine.  Please.

  1. Aurie, you are inspiring. Praying for you guys through this! Can’t wait to meet him!

    I love my Summie to pieces but there is seriously nothing like the love from a boy to his momma! You’ll certainly have your hands full with 2 infants, but your heart will also be full of so much love! Praying for the best outcomes for everyone. Hope Sophie and Bella are adjusting well.

  14. Aw – so much baby love! And you’re starting CC this fall right for the first time, right? I’ll be praying for you :)

  21. Oh, wow! What fun! A nine month old and a new born! People will wonder how you did it. But boys are fun, as you know. And they have a different relationship with their mothers than daughters do. You’ll love it!

  22. SO blessed to read of this precious boy getting to be a part of your family – if only for a time. Prayers and hugs, sweet Momma!

  23. What an amazing and precious photo! You know a baby boy will have his mama wrapped around his finger, don’t you? I bet he already does! :-) I cannot say enough times how awesome I think you are for doing this!

  1. […] Baby S arrived August 1st and stole my heart right away.  He was so tiny {5 pounds} and just wanted to cuddle all the time!  Fast forward 4 months and he is all boy.  He eats like a champ, is gaining weight and is hitting milestones early.  If you follow me on instagram, you know that Baby S was born with bi-lateral club feet, which mean both his feet were turned inward instead of straight. It’s been quite a journey already with doctor visits, surgery, casting and now we are on to the Boots & Bar phase :)  He is making amazing progress, and is such a laid back baby with all this *stuff* going on around him.
