An Epic Day

It was a very long day.

Bella fell out of bed at 4am, decided that it was time to get up and woke Sophie. By the time I convinced them to go back to sleep it was 5:30am.

Both girls were up at 7am – and they woke up Little H, since she needed to play with them. {sigh}

The dining room floor wore most of the breakfast cereal, because when you have two 2 year olds *racing* to eat it’s not pretty.

The kitchen sink was overflowing from the dishes that I forgot to wash the night before.

Neither 2 year old took a nap.

The 4 year old didn’t either.

One of the children made a beautiful chalk mural on our dining room wall.

The two 2 year olds decided to *wash* the bathroom floor with hair shampoo. Realizing it was too slippery they tried to clean it up using toilet paper and kleenex. {I should know by now that if it’s quiet it’s NOT good!}

One of the girls fell and bumped her knee, which resulted in alarming screams.  I raced upstairs and slid {SLID} into the bathroom towards the window, knocking over both toddlers. Now both Bella and Little H are on the floor, covered in shampoo and toilet paper and crying because Mommy scared them.

While Mommy is cleaning up the bathroom and Daddy is making dinner in the kitchen, the same two year olds got into the school supplies, emptying the entire cabinet onto the floor. Feathers and foam craft balls went everywhere. {Our dog was chewing on a stray feather today – no idea where she found it!}

Bella then found the only bottle of non-washable black paint and proceeded to open it while standing on the living room couch.

An epic meltdown ensued as I tried to get Bella cleaned up and all the painted clothing off and into the laundry basket {where it’s still waiting to be washed}.  PJs are put on and we had dinner.

Daddy was out the door at 5pm, all three girls were in bed at 6pm with threats of removing ALL toys if anyone got out of bed.

I have to admit, that I really did laugh all the way through this day. Part of it was because I was SO tired, but it also occurred to me that this was one day. 24 hours and it’s over. Done. {Hopefully never to be repeated, but I’m sure it will be}

I’m thankful for these girls, for the laughter and the fun, and the messiness that they bring to my life. How boring would my life be otherwise?!

How was your day?
