GRIT.
The sand crunches beneath my flip flops and gets into my toes. I sigh and think of the mess that will be entering the car when we leave.
The beach is quiet and still. It seems as if only we are here – and there is a peacefulness that I crave. The sun is warm on my face and as I lift up my eyes I feel like He really is seeing all of me. There’s no hiding here on this open space. There’s no one left to hide behind.
He sees me.
All of me.
Knowing that He sees me and knows me and loves me I fling open my arms to embrace the moment.
I turn and watch my girls playing in the coarse sand. Their legs and arms are covered, but they don’t care as they dig and laugh and play. I sigh again, but it’s a different sigh – a sigh knowing time is passing and things are changing and even our footprints will be washed away from the waves crashing on the beach.
I run and kneel with my girls in the gritty sand, and I don’t care about the mess it will make later. I want to enjoy the moments, all of them – even the messy ones.
STOP.
Five Minute Friday is a new challenge {for me} where we write for 5 minutes. No editing. Pictures are added afterwards – and, since I still can’t spell when I type quickly, spell check!! Want to join in? Click on the button!!
